From August 16th, 2012 to August 19th, a unique art project will be in St. Petersburg. The art project called, “Museum of the Whole,” is a conventional collection of amateur artists who were self-taught throughout their lives. This event occurs around the world on tour so that people everywhere can experience and enjoy these great pieces of art that you won’t see in an ordinary museum. 

Since 2009, the museum was in the famous Tate Gallery in England, but this year the project comes to Russia to find artists for the next big event entitled, “Garage,” in the Moscow Center of Contemporary Culture. 

On August 5th, 2012, there will be a great jazz concert on Elagin Island for all those who love jazz and Shakespeare! A free concert performed by the group “Granny Smith”, will be held at the Variety Theatre on Elagin Island. 

Everyone who attends will experience an incredible and mysterious plunge into the world of William Shakespeare’s interpretation of music and performance from the studio theatre. Basically, it’s Shakespeare with jazz, which is an awesome combination!

This year all can witness even more celebratory events on this day.

On 29 July  a big marine and naval show will take place in the “Park of 300-years of St.Petersburg”. The tourists will see a mock fight between Sea Devils (Marine Spetsnaz – special elite force) and “international terrorists”. The park visitors will be able to see the marine's uniform and equipment as well as modern weapons. Those who are fond of the military style can try themselves in assembling and disassembling kalashnikovs, shooting in the shooting range, and throwing nives. 

On July 28th, 2012, in St. Petersburg Russia, there will be a festival called the “Festival of Colors Holi”. 

On July 27th, 2012, Sum 41 will be performing in St. Petersburg! Punk rockers Sum 41 will be playing at “Club Kosmonavt” with their old school like punk/metal music that always rocks the house. Sum 41 will be on a world tour promoting their newest album called “Screaming Bloody Murder.” The album is truly in your face punk music that is sure to be loved by all who listen to it. With their loud sounds and great guitar playing, Sum 41, the group is already nominated for a Grammy for their single called “Blood in my eyes.”

On Friday, July 27th, 2012, come and take an unforgettable romantic boat ride in the evening around the magnificent views of St. Petersburg. A relaxed atmosphere on a comfortable boat awaits you with beautiful saxophone music to complete the mood.

A nice glass of champagne and fresh fruit tops of the setting of calmness, beauty, and peace, as you enjoy yourself and watch your worries flow down the river Neva for an unforgettable night. 

By the end of the summer in St. Petersburg, there will be free public bicycles around the city. The essence of the new project called “Freebike”, is simple: people bring their unwanted bikes into a shop, get them repaired, and then leave them on the streets for free use. A similar system was invented in Amsterdam, and now the trend is starting in St. Petersburg. The action is being developed by the creative group called “Idea”, and the magazine “Time Out.” 

On July 28th, 2012, St. Petersburg will be introduced to a new sport- boking. Boking is a completely new kind of extreme sport, which allows, you to jump above two meters high, and run at a speed of 35 km/h while performing acrobatic tricks in the air. The festival will take place at Palace Square from 10:00 to 14:00, and there will be the implementation of elementary rules so that all children and adults will be safe in trying this new sport! 

On the night of August 17th to August 18th, on the Palace Bridge, everyone will be able to witness something awesome! The event will take place from 01:30 to 04:30 on the Palace Bridge as it is standing up. An art forum called the “Petersburg graffiti Graffest” hosts the event. The festival will show video graffiti, international animated films on the theme of “Urban Legends”, and a special program dedicated to the 100th anniversary of Russian animation.

From July 27th to August 3rd, St. Petersburg will be hosting the VIII International Film Festival on the beach at Peter and Paul Fortress. The event will be an open-air cinema, and the theme is called, “Around the world in one night.” On this day, the audience will wait for an art program, as well as a marathon of short films and cartoons that are being watched by the largest audiences in the world.
