Four thousand people in St. Petersburg will sing on the steps of St. Isaac's Cathedral

On May 26th, 2013, the citizens of St. Petersburg may end up in the Guinness Book of World Records. 4,000 people are going to come together to sing on the steps of St. Isaac’s Cathedral as part of celebration of City Day in St. Petersburg.

Soon, all advertising structures, monitors, and logos will be removed from the roofs on Nevsky Prospect. They are contrary to the requirements of current legislation on advertising and information, with the majority of the leases with the companies expiring soon, said "BaltInfo."

Three new five star hotels will open in St. Petersburg this year. In the “House of the Lions” on Voznesensky Prospect, will have the first ever in Russia "Four Seasons hotel". The InterContinental Hotels Group will launch the "Hotel Indigo" on Tchaikovsky Street, and on Pravda Street in May and there will be a five-star hotel "Hermitage", created in conjunction with the state museum.

On March 3rd, 2013, at the main entrance of Galleria shopping center on Ploshad Vosstaniya, there will be a massive Harlem Shake flash mob. The event begins around 16:00 and everyone is welcome if you have a good and fun attitude. Bring a cool costume, friends, and come have a great time.

On March 23rd, 2013, turn off your lights for an hour! This year, Earth Hour will be observed from 20:30-21:30 on Saturday March 23rd. Hundreds of people will gather on Palace Square and will light candles at exactly 20:30 as a sign that the people who observe this green holiday can play an important role in helping our planet.

Germanwings is a low-cost airline that will start flying from St. Petersburg to Dusseldorf in October and November 2013. The airline will take over the route that was previously provided by Lufthansa. The cost of these tickets will begin from 33 Euros. The costs of the tickets are divided into three groups: Basic, Smart, and Best. The cost of the flight will depend on additional services- baggage and food.

Now in St. Petersburg, you can get your own donut delivery! A candy store called, "Glaze" (Глазурь), is a fresh donut company making delicious American donuts of many different varieties. So, for example, a donut without filling, but with frosting will cost 70 rubles. A donut with apple and cinnamon, berries or bananas inside, will cost 80 rubles. And a donut with cheesecake or cream sauce with a mint glaze will cost 90 rubles.

The Russian State Duma has just adopted an anti-smoking law. The members of the Duma voted the adoption of the new bill on. 441 members voted in favor of the bill and just one member voted against it. The new law will come into force on June 1st, 2013. Starting on January 1, 2014, the tax on tobacco products will increase drastically. Then starting on June 1st, 2014, there will be a complete ban on smoking in trains, hotels, restaurants, and railroad stations. Tighter control over the production of tobacco products, as well as equipment for the production of these products will come into force on January 1st, 2017.
