Aurora to be active again

Aurora 1903

The Aurora is a symbol of the October Revolution and its famous 1917 “blank shot”, was the signal for the storming of the Winter Palace. In 1944, the cruiser was put on eternal parking in the Neva River, as a museum-monument for naval history of St. Petersburg. Since the mid- 20th century, it is a branch of the Central Naval Museum of Russia.

Cities in the southeastern part of Finland will propose soon to develop a 36-hour visa-free trip to Finland to Russian tourists coming by train. The director of the development of Lappeenranta, Markku Heinonen said that his experiment would show whether the European Union and Russia could successfully in the future create a visa-free travel agreement.

The timer shows how many days, hours, minutes, and seconds are left until the start of the Olympic games in Sochi- 2014. The design consists of three panels, which contain an asymmetrical design of diamonds, blue triangles, and other blue colors. Both sides feature an electronic scoreboard with red numbers.

69th Anniversary of Complete Liberation of Leningrad

Today, 27 January, the city of St. Petersburg, celebrates the 69th anniversary of the complete liberation of Leningrad from the Nazi siege during the Great Patriotic War (World War II) from 1941-1945. At 7 pm tonight, the torches at the Rostral columns will be lit up in remembrance of those who lost their lives during this time. Then at 9 pm, a fireworks show will be held at the walls of the Peter and Paul fortress.

Just a few days ago on January 19th, 2013, the Siberian town of Novosibirsk hosted the Miss Snow Universe beauty pageant. There were 20 beautiful contestants who bared the freezing cold temperatures in just a blue bikini and banner. According to the pageant co-organizer, Tatyana Fetisova, said that the girls desired to have a session in a blue swimsuit because they wanted to do something out of the ordinary, and the best way to do this is in one of the most coldest places on Earth, Siberia.

The restaurant Terrassa will be opening an ice skating rink overlooking Kazansky Cathedral. Right on the balcony of the restaurant there will appear an ice skating rink where one can rent skates, warm vests and have fun skating. The project will go live starting already this week. There will be a special menu with hot cocktails and live DJ’s playing in the evening.

First place went to the "Toledo" station in Naples, Italy. The Toledo station opened a few months ago. Avtovo ranks 10th on the list.
