From January to April 2013, come and see a bunch of concerts for free at the Philharmonic (Nevsky, 30). The Maly Zal (Малый зал) can hold up to 600 people! Here is the schedule and information on the shows. But please arrive on time, last time such concerts happened, those who came late were not allowed to enter.

Iphone Memprial

A two-meter tall Iphone model with a disproportionately small touch screen was opened in St-Petersburg on January 9th, 2013. The model can be found in the courtyard of the techno Park of ITMO University. The opening of the presentation was in honor of the first Iphone, which was presented by Steve Jobs on January 9th, 2007. The monument speaks in Russian, English, Spanish, and Chinese, and shows films about Steve Jobs. It can even take pictures and address the viewer by name if the user of this monument is logged onto the internet.

Swan Lake Mariinsky 3D

The Mariinsky Theatre will soon start to record the operas and ballets for Russian and international television. Live ballet performances will also be shown in Russian cinema theatres to television audiences. The first live show of 3D- ballet will begin on February 14th. Viewers will be able to see Swan Lake ( director Valery Gergiev). The team of James Cameron are helping Gergiev with the performance. James Cameron's writing and directing work includes The Terminator (1984), Aliens (1986), The Abyss (1989), Terminator 2: Judgment Day (1991), True Lies (1994), Titanic (1997), Dark Angel (2000–02), and Avatar (2009)

New Year Program at Palace Square: A Festive Show

New Year 2013

Come out to see a great festive program to celebrate New Year’s at 2 a.m. on January 1st at Palace Square. The program will last for five hours and 6,000 fireworks will be shot off to commemorate the beginning of the New Year. A light show will also be taking place at the Old Stock Exchange Building nearby as well as dance groups performing on the square. The program promises to be a memorable one, as cannon volleys will also be shot from the beach fortress, the Trinity Bridge, and the Palace Embankment.

On January 6th 2013, join everyone at two great locations in St. Petersburg for a snowball fight that you will never forget! St. Petersburg is already covered in snow, so we shouldn't worry about a lack of it! No one will leave the battle dry! Each battle has army colored hats and black hats and each army has a military commander. Each team will have its own strategy, tactics, chants, and flags. On December 28th, 2012, a museum of ice will be opening in St. Petersburg! The fantastic museum has an area of 500 square meters and will house more than 15 ice compositions created by famous Russian artists. The facility keeps the temperature at -7, so the statues and works of art will never thaw.

Christmas Mystery Golden Key

New Year’s Eve in St. Petersburg is expecting a lot of celebrations. From 9:00 pm, part of Nevsky Prospekt (from Fontaka river to Palace Square) will become pedestrian. At 10:00 pm there will begin celebrations at Malaya Sadovaya,  Gostiny Dvor, and Malaya Konyushennaya. At 11 pm, a feast will begin on Palace Square, where a big bridge that will connect the old and New Year will usher the New Year in. Vendors on the streets will be selling hot drinks and pastries.
