On July 7th, 2012, a festival of Fly Station parachuting will take place in St. Petersburg. The northern capital will experience this for the first time. The performance will consist of the Russian national team. The Fly Station is the most spectacular discipline of skydiving. Athletes of this sport will demonstrate extreme control of a parachute at a speed of more than 30 meters per second. It is an amazing sight, as the pilots need to master speed, precision, and artistry of flight over the Neva River at amazing speeds. 

On June 24th, 2012, a small market will be open for those interested in trading small collectibles, trinkets, decorative items, or anything else that is small and interesting. Got something that you think you do not need anymore but you don't want to throw away? Just bring it! =) Key chains, bracelets, old photo frames, old coins, and etc… It is just a little exchange to find something small and new in your life that you or others think might be useful for them. The main thing is that the market is for trading, not for selling your possessions. Participation in this event is free!

On Saturday June 23rd 2012, the annual Scarlet Sails (Russian: "Алые Паруса") event will take place. This event is a huge celebration for all the students who graduate high school around St. Petersburg. The event will start at 21:00 and the event is supposed to have 60,000 people attend. The organizers of the event want to have all 60,000 people take place in a dance, making it the largest flash-mob dance in the world, and hopefully will be put in the Guinness Book of World Records. Then at 23:00, a ball will take place at Palace Square, as well as a concert on Vasilevsky Island. This event is will be huge, and everyone is encouraged to attend! 

The Alexander Garden is hosting the event called “Bears of the World.” Two-meter tall bears can be found around the whole garden from June 21st to August 5th this summer. The official opening of this exhibition will take place today, June 22, at 5 pm. This is a non-profit project in which calls for peaceful coexistence around the world. The exhibit is organized with the support of the Consulate General of Germany in St. Petersburg along with the company, “Buddy Bear Berlin.” The Buddy Bear collection includes the total of 144 bears, painted by artists from different countries.The bears stand in a circle holding hands, and represent a call for tolerance and understanding between different peoples and cultures.

By 2014, the St. Petersburg Metro will purchase 126 new vandal proof cars with great new ventilation systems and upgraded cab with touch controls. The new cars will have features that will make it impossible for people to draw graffiti or place stickers in or on the wagons. The new ventilation system will be the greatest upgrade for our subway system. In the summer, the metro is very hot, thus making it uncomfortable to travel inside of it. With the new ventilation system, riding in the metro in the summer will be comfortable and pleasurable, as it is the most common way of transport in St. Petersburg.

It is not a problem nowadays to get a WI-FI connection in St. Petersburg. Almost any coffee shop in the center has Wi-Fi for free, as do several restaurants and cafés. All you really need is a laptop with a wireless antenna. Then, just find a place with an open network. Though some places charge for Wi-Fi usage, or you are required to buy food and then get a Wi-Fi code on your receipt.
