Russia Day 2012

Russia Day 2012 will take place on June 12th all over Russia. Russia day is a national holiday that represents the independence, freedom, and national unity of the Russian Federation. Each year, the Russia Day celebrations draw a huge number of visitors from other cities for a great day of celebration. The events during Russia Day in St. Petersburg are artful and classical, but they are aimed to please and entertain everyone who attends these events.

Events will be taking place all on Nevsky Prospect and Palace Square, as at 18:00, a solemn theatrical prologue will start the festivities. The program will represent and show the history of Russia along with dance groups, choir, and a symphony orchestra. Music used during this event will be from Pyotr Tchaikovsky, Mussorgsky, Shostakhovich, and Glinka. An extensive concert program will begin immediately after the solemn prologue.

On June 11th and June 12th, the waters of the Neva River, near the Peter and Paul fortress will be the host of the International Regatta of the “Sails of White Nights.” The event is sure to draw a lot of people to make the Neva River full of white sails. 

At the Museum of History on June 11th, a ceremony of military guards will be held at 11:50. The Alexander Garden will hold an international festival of colors. There will be festive floral arrangements, flower models, and the best bouquets around the city. The colorful festival will be accompanied by solemn music played by brass bands.
