 You think you’ve been to everywhere in St. Petersburg and know everything? Think again! These are some sights in St-Petersburg that you may not know. You can call them “informal” museums, parks and monuments, so go for it and see something different in the beautiful city!
 1. Griffin Tower How to get there: walk 10 minutes from Vasileostrovskaya metro station along the 7th line, turn onto Dneprovskiy pereulok (Russian: Днепровский пер.) (between buildings 18 and 20.) Go to the end and turn left, then under the first arch on the left you will see the tower. Location: Vasilevsky Island, 7th line, bld 16.

Tolstoy’s House How to get there: From Dostoevskaya metro station, go along Shcherbakovkiy pereulok (Russian: Щербаковский пер.) towards Rubinshtein street (Russian: ул. Рубинштейна), cross it and turn right. Walk 100 meters or 10 minutes. Mind that at night the courtyard is closed. Location: Rubinshteina Street, 15-17, metro Vladimirskaya or Dostoevskaya

Mozaichniy Dvor (Mosaic Courtyard) on Fontanka From metro station Chernyshevskaya, walk to Tchaikovskogo Street (Russian: ул Чайковского), then turn left and move towards the end of Fontanka, which takes about 20 minutes. Here is some interesting graffiti that you can see better when coming from Tchaikovskogo Street, as the entrance on Fontanka is usually closed. Location: Chernyshevskogo prospekt, 2. Yards with historical figures at Gorokhovaya Street From Sennaya Ploshad metro station, walk on Gorokhovaya Street for 10 minutes until you see houses 37-39 on the left side of the street. Location: Gorokhovaya Street, 31-37. Metro Nevsky prospekt, Gostiny Dvor, Sadovaya, Spasskaya, Sennaya Ploshad'.

Emerald City From Vladimirskaya metro station, walk three blocks along Bolshaya Moskovskaya street to the intersection of Pravdy and Raz'ezzhey Streets (Russian: ул. Разъезжая). Location: Pravdy Street (Russian: ул. Правды), bld 2-8. Metro Vladimirskaya, Dostoevskaya.

Yard of Carlson’s House From Gostiny Dvor metro station, turn right and walk 10 minutes along Nevsky Prospekt to Anichkov Bridge, then turn right right after crossing it. Walk 5 minutes along Fontanka till you see bulding number 50 (it's 5 min walk). Location: Nab. Fontanki, 50. Metro Gostiny Dvor and Nevsky Prospekt.

Benoit House or Thoroughfare on Kamennoostrovsky From Petrogradskaya metro station, walk 15 minutes on Kamennoostrovsky to the left when exiting the subway (15 minute walk). Or take the 46th bus on Kamennoostrovsky pr. Location: Kamennoostrovsky Prospect, 26-28. Metro Petrogradskaya

Courtyard of the Faculty of Philology (Saint-Petersburg State University СпбГУ) From metro Vasileostrovskaya, walk to University Embankment, it usually takes 15 minutes and the most difficult thing is to get inside. The guards only let in students with student ids. Sometimes it works just to walk together with a crowd of students and blend in. :) Location: Universitetskaya Naberezhnaya, 11. Metro station Vasileostrovskaya.

Kunstkammer Yard From metro Vasileostrovskaya, walk along the 7th line to Lieutenant Schmidt Embankment (Russian: Наб. Лейтенанта Шмидта), then to University Embankment (Universitetskaya Naberezhnaya.) Then go along Mendeleev line, then along Birzhevoy proezd, and then - Tamozhenny pereulok. After that, its Kunstkammer yard, the whole trip takes about 15 minutes. Location: Universitetskaya Naberezhnaya, 11. Metro station Vasileostrovskaya.

Chess Patio (Russian: Шахматный Дворик) From Vladimirskaya station, walk along Zagorodny prospekt. The iron gate to the yard is usually closed, but use the intercom to call the museum, Rimsky-Korsakov, and the gate will open. Location: Zagorodniy Prospect, 28. Metro Vladimirskaya, Dostoevskaya.
