By 2016, the Sredniy Prospect on Vasilevsky Island might become a new pedestrian zone. The plans for the street include the widening of sidewalks and leaving only two lanes for public transport. Cars will not be able to travel on the street at all. The project will develop starting in 2013. Now the program is just beginning with Vasilevsky Island, but it could be possible that Nevsky Prospect will also be a pedestrian street by 2020, eliminating all the noise of cars and buses. |
