St-Petersburg Night Buses

Starting on July 1st, 2012, from Saturday to Sunday, buses will operate throughout the night. This will be a test operation to see how many people will use these buses and if it is profitable or not. This additional transport will be fully duplicated subway lines, thus, the buses will run on the same route as the subway lines during the night.

The Committee of Transport and St. Petersburg State Unitary Enterprise called, “Passagiravtotrans”, will involve 67 large buses in this project. This rolling stock will be working on 15-minute intervals on the weekends and holidays. However, based on success of this pilot project, whether it will be good or not, then it will operate daily or not at all. The opening of the bridges on the Neva River will affect these routes, as the bridges are usually open for a long period during the night. Passengers will be able to pay the fare using electronic tickets, as each fare costs 23 rubles as usual.

For more information about the new bus routes and tracks, go to the website of the Committee of Transportation of St. Petersburg, as well as the information signs on the bus stops around the city.
