Sculptures melted by mid-January due to the abnormally warm weather will be replaced shortly at the Peter and Paul fortress.

Melted ice sculptures, which have existed at the Peter and Paul Fortress in St. Petersburg only until mid-January due to the abnormally warm weather will be replaced by new and they will be open to visit on February 8th at 10:00 am.

In mid- January 2014, the Ice Sculpture Festival temporarily suspended its work due to the abnormally warm weather. Despite the use of protective tents and freezers, the ice composition completely melted.

The theme of the festival remains the same - all the sculptures will be dedicated to fairy tales. With the onset of the cold, festival organizers have begun work to restore the ice. Another batch of ice was imported and attracted professional sculptors from St. Petersburg to re-do their work again.

In the new exhibition, as in the original, presents sculptures such as the Humpbacked Horse, Baba Yaga, dragon snake Zmey Gorynych, but in a completely different interpretation of the author. As well as new fairy-tale characters: Emelya on the stove, Ruslan  (the head hero of "Ruslan and Ludmila"), the three bears, and others. Here you can see a figure floating in the waves of the Neva, a hare - a distinctive symbol of Hare Island.

The Festival of ice sculpture will have an open toboggan slide and real ice house along with ice furnished ice furniture.
