Little Italy

On the Italian street, opposite of the Komissarzhevskaya Theater, is a nice, small traditional Italian café called "Little Italy." The café opened in March and is proving to be a hit already in St. Petersburg. The owner, Mirko Dzanini, worked for 13 years in the hotel industry, and decided to develop his own restaurant business in St. Petersburg. In May, he will open another Italian restaurant, Romeo, near St. Nicholas Cathedral. In Little Italy, you can eat Mediterranean home cooking and also master the basic level of Italian and learn how to cook a pizza! In the mornings, Little Italy has language groups and cooking classes.

Little Italy only prepares real Italian food and is cooked when ordered. The owner of the café and chef Filippo Renzi work together to provide the ultimate Italian dinning experience. Filippo Renzi has worked kitchens of restaurants in Italy and Greece. There are also vegetarian meals on the menu, and also a children’s menu that has a small portion of pasta, pizza and lasagna. By the end of May, there will be a pastry shop, and there will be more desserts. On weekdays from 13:00 to 16:00, Little Italy has business lunches, which typically brings in actors of the closest theaters and Italians working nearby for a nice and reasonable priced business lunch.

The artwork of the café is in the style of Venetian streets, and was designed by artists from the studio "Attack". They designed their own sketches and also made shelves, display cabinets, racks and shutters. Sheets of wood carved with decorations, such as: the facades of houses and Venetian carnival characters, plus the walls are painted with a recognizable architectural element and the popular spots in Venice. There are also masks, paintings and other decorative elements that are originally from Italy.
