ST-PETERSBURG is home to a singularly unique feat of architecture that is, perhaps, not rivaled anywhere else around the world. The city of St Petersburg is composed of islands and connected by BRIDGES. Boasting over 300 bridges, St-Petersburg is rightfully called the Venice of the North or the City of Bridges. When taken as a whole, the bridges built here make up the spectacular sight commonly called the "standing bridges".

RUSSIAN CUISINE is not a very well known internationally. The Russian diet usually consists of soups, potatoes, meat, cabbage, and bread. But that does not mean that Russian cuisine is boring and plain. Russians are very clever people, especially with their cooking. Walking around the streets of St. Petersburg, you can find a small stand, café, or Russian restaurant on almost every corner. The main dishes of Russian cuisine are: borscht, blini, golubtsi, vareniki, pelmeni, and bubliki. Usually, every meal in Russia is served with bread. Russian black bread is a personal favorite of many. If one ever has the chance to try any of these dishes, they will be very satisfied.

St. Petersburg is a city in which hosts two spectacular sport clubs. ZENIT ST. PETERSBURG is the love of the city. It is a football club in which you will find scarves, banners, and the emotion of this club in the people daily (watch the video of an amazing graffiti featuring Zenit in St-Petersburg Metro) The second club is SKA St. Petersburg. SKA is the hockey club of the city in which hosts several ex. NHL stars. These two clubs give the people of the city something to look forward to, as well as they unite the people always. 

As an American citizen coming to Russia for the first time, over three years ago, I experienced CULTURE SHOCK firsthand. Therefore, I believe that it is necessary to explain to all those who are interested in travelling to St. Petersburg the differences in the people, city life, and quite simply overall culture in St. Petersburg. Petersburg is a fantastic city that everyone should see at least once in life. But one should prepare for a bit of culture shock!

Russians are usually portrayed in cartoons or comics for their excessive alcoholic drinking along with other stereotypes, but one thing that Russians are not depicted internationally is for their rich language. The Russian language is full of different words, synonyms, and adjectives that cannot be found in several other languages. But, the first thing a person wants to learn when studying a foreign language is CURSE WORDS.

- For UK and US citizens – power adapter. Some suggest taking it along with the power converter but we see no need  in buying a converter as all modern cameras, cell phones, iPods and laptops already have a built-in converter.
