7 Unusual Mueseums of St-Petersburg

Here is a list of seven unusual museums in St. Petersburg that are sure to entertain you. These museums are not usually on the list for tourists in St. Petersburg to visit, mostly because they are unknown and not in most tourist guides. But these museums are very interesting to see. Here they are:

1. Museum of Dreams by Sigmund Freud

Freud’s Dream Museum opened due to the publication of his book called “The Interpretation of Dreams.” The main feature of the museum space is its mirrors and darkness that gives the visitor a feel that he or she is in a dream. – Location: Grand Avenue PS, 18a, metro- Sportivnaya. Hours: Tuesday and Sunday from 12:00 to 17:00.

2. Museum of Russian Vodka

This unique museum displays the history of vodka in great detail. A chronological exhibit as well as historical items decorates this small museum from head to toe. It is a complete guide and display of everything vodka. After the museum tour, you are invited to a sampling of vodka with snacks. – Location: Horse Guards Avenue, 4. Metro- Sennaya Ploshad. 3. Museum of Miniatures 

The collection of miniatures at this museum is a unique collection that was created by artists who used lenses and microscopes to create these mini exhibits. One of the artists of this museum, Vladmira Aniskina, created a flea that is 6 million times smaller than a horseshoe, and a caravan of camels, which have a height of 0.07-0.08 mm tall. – Address: Nevsky Prospect, 81, Metro: Nevsky Prospect. 4. Tram Museum

The museum of trams and trolley buses include various vintage models of the public transportation vehicles that featured over the last 100 years in the city. Visitors can see archival documents, photographs, maps, and models of trams that decorate the whole museum. 5. Museum of Water

The history of water supply and sanitation services in St. Petersburg is an amazing story that can be found only in the museum of water. The museum also features an amazing display of communication and wastewater treatment facilities. The museum is located in the oldest water tower in St. Petersburg. – Address: Str. Shpalernaya, 56. 6. Museum of Frigate Standard

The frigate standard museum features the first ship built by Peter the Great on his return from Holland. The museum also features the blueprints of the ship and many other exhibits that relate to Peter the Great and his ship building techniques.
