The main celebration of St. Petersburg’s foundation will be held from May 27th to May 29th. The great celebration of City Day will feature several great performances and host service famous artists around the city to commemorate the founding of St. Petersburg. 

St. Petersburg residents and visitors will become participants in a large-scale citywide festival. There will be a great open-air international jazz festival, circus program, music, live performances, dance, and theatre performances around the center of the city. Also the City Day holiday will have skateboarders, and other extreme sport action. Military bands will provide music also, to create an atmosphere where everyone feels welcomed.

The International Festival of 3D paintings on asphalt will take place from June 30th to July 1st. The even called, “Colors of St. Petersburg”, is the first major event in Russia of this kind, dedicated to the creation of three-dimensional drawings on asphalt. Each visitor will be able to draw, as well as to learn how to draw from more than 30 artists. These 30 artists will compete for an opportunity for the Festival of 3D drawings in Italy.

NIGHT OF MUSEUMS is an annual event dedicated to the International Day of Museums. St. Petersburg’s museums, large and small, traditionally open their doors to visitors in the evening and all night long in honor of this event. The museums prepare a special program that follows like this: a daylong special exhibition, concerts, performances, author tours, master classes, and historical reenactment.

One of the most popular holidays in Russia is VICTORY DAY. Every May 9th, all of Russia celebrates the day of victory in the Great Patriotic War of 1941-1945. The country shows respect in many ways to the great suffering, courage, and heroes of the war. The most popular way of showing respect is wearing the orange and black St. George’s ribbon. The main ceremonial event 2012 in St. Petersburg and all of Russia is scheduled for May 8th and 9th.

The RED HOT CHILI PEPPERS are coming to St. Petersburg! On July 20th, at the Petrovsky Stadium, the Red Hot Chili Peppers will rock the town with their best hits and loud, energetic music that is loved by millions around the world. It is surely to be a sold out concert that will never be forgotten by those who attend. The Chili Peppers have returned on tour with their new album called I’m With You. The Peppers will be playing at the Annual Tuborg Greenfest Music Festival in St. Petersburg, which features the best worldwide stadium concert bands. More than 30 thousand people are supposed to attend this massive concert!

PETERHOF is often called the Versailles of Russia. It is one of the most beautiful places in the St. Petersburg region, which has a palace, beautiful fountains, and several different museums and gardens. It is truly a work of art in nature, as many people around the world come to Peterhof to see the historical palace that was the gem of Peter the First. Although it is not in St. Petersburg, it is only a short ride away. And it is a must see for anyone who comes to St. Petersburg. You will not be disappointed.

On April 8th there was a final rehearsal before St. Petersburg will be transformed into a city of bubbles! The actual festival will take place on May 6 at 3 pm on Palace Square. Everyone who participates will experience a beautiful city of bubbles. A city where there are no taboos or bad moods. It will be a city in which everyone is happy. Let’s for one-day plunge into a pleasant atmosphere of freedom, love, and understanding. The event will take place with bubbles and bright clothes. If one doesn’t have bright clothing, wear wings! If one doesn’t have wings, take bright umbrellas with you! =)

On April 7th, in the courtyard of club “Fish Fabrique Nouvelle”, will be the first photo drying event of the season, a free exhibition project for the exchange of photographs. Dry is an urban action that was invented in St. Petersburg. The project was successfully carried out three times in St. Petersburg and some other cities.

The PRODIGY group is coming to St. Petersburg on May 30th at the Ice Palace for a concert that promises to be amazing! One of the most famous electronic groups on the planet will be playing in front of a packed stadium. The Prodigy began in 1991, when their first mini album “What Evil Lurks”, premiered with the great works of a young Liam Howlett. The single was seen as what was to become the future of rave/electronic music, and the music quickly became in rotation in several clubs. This original cd is almost impossible to find anywhere nowadays, but it was the start of the legend that is today, The Prodigy.

March 31st, 2012, at Palace Square, the people of St. Petersburg will celebrate Earth Hour. Dozens of people will gather at exactly 20:30 and light candles as a sign for the importance of the future of St. Petersburg and the Earth. 

Every year on the last Saturday in March, millions of people around the world turn off their lights for an hour. It is a symbolic gesture to show the importance of energy consumption and that we should give the Earth a break from electricity. Earth Hour is a symbol of respect for nature, and a concern for the limited resources of our planet.
